Maharishi Mahesh Yogi may have the most recorded voice in history. Thousands of hours of data reside in libraries around the world. He said some amazing things.

Here are a few quotes, courtesy of Vincent J. Daczynski.

“Competition is for the competent.” Maharishi loved to play with words!

“Action is always based on the level of consciousness. A man can only see red when he has red glasses on, and then he cannot see anything other than red. In the same way, when we raise a person’s level of consciousness, he can only behave rightly. An ideal society will result from people’s spontaneous right behavior, which will take within its fold all the necessary considerations for the proper sense of values for their own interests and for the interests of other people. An ideal society can never be created by telling people the importance of caring for the interests of others. A balanced life can only grow in society when every action is spontaneously able to accommodate both the interests of the individual and the interests of those around him, and this will be on the basis of his ability to perform action that is spontaneously in accordance with all the laws of nature. Only action in accordance with nature will simultaneously satisfy the interests of the individual, society, and the cosmos.”

“The secret of success in business today is to develop the field of creativity that lies deep within each individual.”

“The secret of success in business is creativity. The urgent need in business today is to develop the field of creativity that lies deep within each individual. Through Transcendental Meditation the awareness of the individual comes into contact with this field of unlimited creativity, pure consciousness, the Constitution of the Universe.”

“Fulfilment is structured in achievement, Achievement is structured in action, Action is structured in thinking, Thinking is structured in knowledge, Knowledge is structured in consciousness.”

“Naturalness is the basis of effectiveness.”

“You are the master of all the laws of nature if you know the transcendental field.”

“It is the purity of man’s heart and mind, and his innocent and faithful approach to action with the purpose of all good to everyone, which really succeeds in yielding maximum results with minimum effort.”

“It is enough that we are naturally helpful to others. What others think of us is not our concern – it is their concern. If we are weak, we will always put ourselves at the whims of others. We do not base our lives on the opinions of others. But if we are not clear in our conscience, then we will always be weak and will always mind the looks and remarks of other people.”

“Speaking ill of others means first transplant the wrong of his heart to our heart, to our mind, and then let that seed grow to a tree. The whole process is damaging to evolution. We never think ill of others. If sonmeone does wrong, why bring it to our heart and make it impure. ‘Birds of a feather flock together’. If filth deposited in heart, it will collect and then whatever flocks together flies out.”

We never think negative of anyone. Purity comes when we are meditating, our thought force is increasing – then we think bad of someone and we push him down to that low. We do not do that which does not benefit one directly. We never use our time, energy, speech, ability in something that does not help us to grow and improve our life. It’s not worth it.”

“What makes one luckier is the good that he has done to others. It comes back to him. A man doesn’t become lucky by doing wrong. He becomes lucky because he has done good to others and that good comes back to him. And now he is lucky.”

“No action can be performed successfully without a clear result in view.”

“The formula for producing maximum results is to disregard the obstacles and negative influences which offer resistance to the performance of action.”

“If we think of defeat, that is what we will get. If we are undecided, nothing will happen to us. We must just pick something great to do and do it. Never do we think of failure at all, for as we think now, that is what we will get.”

“Responsibility can never be given. It can only be taken.”

“The more responsibility we take on, the more we bring the Being. This was the knowledge given to the rulers of the earth in ancient times.”

“Don’t go for what you know you can get. Go for what you really want.”

“See the job, do the job, stay out of the misery.”

“Be established in the eternal unbounded reservoir of energy, intelligence and happiness present within yourself and perform action to enjoy maximum results. Transcendental Meditation is the key.”

“If one smokes it is very difficult to quit smoking, but very easy to Gain God consciousness and thereby not feel for smoking if smoking is bad. It is much simpler to attain God consciousness, much more difficult to go the righteous way. First thing is meditation and clear experience of being in meditation.”

” …I am reminded of a successful businessman in America sitting with his eyes closed, who proclaims success in his activities by closing the eyes and practicing the Transcendental Meditation technique. This is the changed face of success. Success lies in handling nature, and nature is one’s own nature. The more you are able to handle yourself, the more you are able to handle the world.”
